Jaclyn Gilbert

FELLOWSHIP,
PUBLIC INTEREST PROGRAM
Cumberland class of 2013

"I came to Cumberland intending to practice public interest law. The pro bono opportunities that Cumberland provided allowed me to get real time experience, work with amazing attorneys and aid high-need clients who otherwise might not get the help they need. Other schools do not provide the opportunities and resources to gain the legal work experience I sought. The work of the Mediation Center is exceptional."

Academic Programs

Investment needed—$2,500,000

While our students are at Cumberland school of Law, they are exposed not only to our nationally recognized Advocacy Program but also to courses which focus on corporate and transactional law, health care law, and environmental law, to name only a few. Their learning is enhanced by our international programs, our Public Interest Program, the Center for Children, Law and Ethics, and our Community Mediation Center.

We are seeking funds for our academic programs to ensure that our students graduate into the legal profession well-trained, well-rounded, globally minded and intellectually enriched.

Academic Program Goals

  • Enhance Center for Children, Law & Ethics with funding for faculty stipend, research materials and student fellows
  • Enhance Center for Community Mediation and Public Interest Program with funding to make pro bono service and program delivery possible
  • Expand externships in judicial, litigation, corporate, government and public interest offices
